Today March 19, 2013, Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan Region, embraced the first day of the Arab Universities' General Conference under the direct supervision of Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani attended by Kosrat Rasul, Kurdistan Region VP, and Barham Salih, Deputy of Secretary General of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.

Representatives of 260 universities from 22 countries participated in the conference and it will last two days.
During the conference, Masoud Barzani President of Kurdistan Region addressed the attendees. He said that Kurdistan has witnessed massive developments in recent years in terms of education. Masoud Barzani said that Kurdistan Region had 25 public and private universities and more than 25,000 Ph.D and Masters holders.
