The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, received the Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Iraq, David Burger, on Wednesday, October 4, 2023.

During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments and the general situation in Iraq, emphasizing the importance of ensuring and securing the constitutional and financial rights of the Kurdistan Region. Both sides also agreed on the significance of resuming oil exports from the Kurdistan Region through the Turkish port of Ceyhan as soon as possible.

The meeting also witnessed an affirmation of holding the Kurdistan Parliament elections as scheduled.

The Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Iraq expressed his gratitude to the Kurdistan Regional Government for its quick response in providing assistance to the victims of the Hamdaniya (Baghdeda) fire incident and praised the peaceful coexistence enjoyed by the various components of the Kurdistan Region.
