A senior Iranian Interior Ministry official said on Saturday that Judge Ebrahim Raisi is ahead of the presidential elections, after his rivals conceded defeat in a vote attended by millions of Iranians, according to Reuters.

In televised remarks, the official said Raisi had so far received 17.8 million votes in total. The official added that more than 28 million Iranians voted out of the 59 million eligible to vote.

Earlier in the day, state media announced Raisi's victory and said that his only moderate rival had congratulated him.
