Erbil, Kurdistan Region — The 14-day Christmas festival in Ankawa district of Erbil province has brought together thousands of Christians and residents from across the region in a vibrant celebration of peace and joy.

Event organizer Andi Sulawa told Rudaw that the festival has drawn significant participation.

“20,000 Christians have obtained tickets. Between 8,000 and 10,000 people participate in this festival every day, with the number increasing by a thousand each day,” Sulawa explained.

The festivities, which run nightly from 8 p.m. to midnight, have become a cherished occasion for Ankawa’s Christian community. Participants expressed their gratitude for the gathering, emphasizing the importance of coexistence and peace.

Dunya Buya, a Christian attendee from Ankawa, shared her excitement:
“I hope the year 2025 brings joy and happiness to everyone, God willing, especially to the people of Ankawa, Kurdistan, and the entire world,” she said.

The festival has also attracted non-Christian residents, reflecting the spirit of inclusivity and unity in the Kurdistan Region. The event has provided a space for all to enjoy the holiday season, marking a memorable end to the year and fostering hope for the year ahead.
