Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani has arrived in Germany to participate in the Munich Security Conference (MSC), where he is scheduled to engage in high-level discussions with world leaders on regional developments and international relations.
Dilshad Shahab, spokesperson for the Kurdistan Region Presidency, confirmed on Thursday that President Barzani "will hold several meetings and will exchange views on the Kurdistan Region and Iraq's relations with other countries, as well as the latest developments in the region."
The three-day conference, set to commence on Friday, is one of the world's premier forums for debating international security policy. The event brings together global policymakers, diplomats, and security experts to address pressing geopolitical challenges.
Prominent attendees of this year's MSC include US Vice President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, along with other senior officials and international leaders.
According to the MSC website, the conference aims to "build trust and contribute to the peaceful resolution of conflicts by sustaining a continuous, curated, and informal dialogue within the international security community."
The 61st edition of the conference will focus on global security challenges on its opening day. Discussions on Saturday will center around the state of the international order, while the final day will be dedicated to deliberations on Europe's role in global affairs.
President Barzani has been a regular attendee at the MSC in recent years, using the platform to advocate for the Kurdistan Region’s interests and strengthen diplomatic ties with global partners. His participation underscores the Kurdistan Region's commitment to active engagement in international security and diplomatic efforts.
