Erbil to Build Largest Park with 63,000 Square Meters of Greenery on Former Rashkin Village Site
The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has announced plans to build the largest park in Erbil, covering 63,000 square meters of green space. The park will be developed on the former site of Rashkin village, located along 120 Meter Street near Erbil International Airport.
According to project details, the park will feature 16,000 trees, water fountains, dedicated spaces for artistic activities, children's playgrounds, running and cycling tracks, as well as cafes and restaurants. Additionally, it will include a parking area for 450 vehicles, modern lighting systems, surveillance cameras, a mosque, and multiple seating and relaxation areas.
The project, with a budget of 15 billion Iraqi dinars, will be financed through the special budget of the Prime Minister’s Office. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Officials say the new park aims to enhance Erbil’s urban environment, providing residents with much-needed recreational and green spaces in the growing metropolis.
