ENKS to Establish Official Headquarters in Damascus, Strengthening Political Presence in Syria

The Kurdish National Council in Syria (ENKS) has announced plans to establish its official headquarters in Damascus, marking a significant step in the group’s political engagement within the country.

Sulaimani Oso, a senior ENKS leader, confirmed the move on Monday, stating, “The official headquarters of the ENKS will be opened in Damascus soon, and a person will be appointed as the head of the office.”

The decision underscores the strategic importance of Damascus as the capital and political decision-making hub of Syria. Oso emphasized, “We want to have a role and influence in the future of Syria,” signaling the council’s ambitions to strengthen its position in the country’s evolving political landscape.

This development comes as Kurdish groups in Syria intensify efforts to consolidate their political stance. On Sunday, a U.S. delegation met with ENKS representatives in Qamishlo to address key issues, including the unification of Kurdish political parties. According to reports obtained by BasNews, the delegation encouraged Kurdish parties to unite and work toward securing a prominent role in Syria’s future governance.

The establishment of the Damascus office is seen as a pivotal step for ENKS to increase its presence and influence in shaping Syria’s political trajectory. This initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to ensure the representation and integration of Kurdish interests within the broader framework of Syria’s post-conflict political structure.
