ENKS Holds Meetings with Syrian Communities to Discuss Country’s Future

Representatives of the Kurdish National Council in Syria (ENKS) have conducted a series of meetings with various Syrian communities as part of ongoing efforts to prepare for the country’s next phase of governance and draft a new constitution.

Ibrahim Bro, ENKS’s representative in the Syrian Negotiating Committee, shared details of these engagements on his Facebook page, emphasizing the council’s commitment to fostering dialogue and cooperation among Syria’s diverse groups.

“During our stay in Damascus, we held several meetings and intensive visits for exchanges and discussions in preparation for the next phase,” Bro stated.

The ENKS delegation visited Suwayda province, where they met with Sheikh Hikmat Hijri and the family of Sultan Pasha al-Atrash, a revered figure in Syrian history. The delegation also held discussions with Armenian Catholic Bishop George Assdoria, Monsignor George Bahi, Zahi Tayara, Shadi Sarwa, and George Ndez.

Central to the discussions was the principle of equality between all Syrian communities in terms of rights and duties, alongside their active participation in drafting a new Syrian constitution.

Bro confirmed that the delegation also met with the leadership of the Syrian Yezidi Council, including prominent figures Mazkin Yousef and Sarhan Isa, as well as representatives from Aleppo and Afrin.

These consultations underscore the ENKS’s commitment to developing a political framework that accommodates Syria’s diverse communities, ensuring their inclusion in shaping the country’s future governance structure.

The ongoing dialogue reflects broader efforts to build a united and equitable Syria, with all communities playing a vital role in determining the nation’s path forward.
