Turkish Airstrike Kills Civilian in Duhok

A Turkish airstrike targeted the village of Harur in Duhok province on Wednesday, killing a civilian, according to a local source.

The victim, identified as 45-year-old Sabah Abdul Sattar, was a resident of the village. "A Turkish airstrike hit the village of Harur within Duhok province this morning," the source told Shafaq News Agency.

Turkiye has frequently carried out cross-border operations in northern Iraq, aiming to target positions of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which it designates as a terrorist organization. However, these strikes often result in civilian casualties, raising tensions in the region.

As of now, neither Turkish authorities nor the Iraqi government have issued statements regarding the incident.

The ongoing Turkish military campaign in northern Iraq has drawn criticism from both Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), with calls for respecting Iraq's sovereignty. Despite this, operations have persisted, contributing to a volatile security situation in the area.
