10th Halabja Pomegranate and Autumn Festival Opens with British Consul General in Attendance

The 10th annual Halabja Pomegranate and Autumn Festival kicked off on Thursday, October 31, 2024, attracting local and international visitors to celebrate the renowned pomegranate harvest and autumn season in Kurdistan. The festival, running for three days from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., showcases Halabja’s famed pomegranates arranged in impressive displays, along with a variety of traditional and cultural exhibits.

In addition to the celebrated pomegranates, the festival features local pomegranate syrup, homemade fruit syrups, regional handicrafts, and art displays. Traditional funfair activities also add to the family-friendly atmosphere, making the event a vibrant cultural gathering.

This year, British Consul General Andrew Bizley attended the opening, joining the crowd and further highlighting the festival’s international appeal. The festival has grown steadily in popularity, with last year’s event drawing around 350,000 visitors to the region. Organizers anticipate a similarly high turnout this year, underscoring the event’s role in promoting Halabja's cultural heritage and supporting local tourism in the Kurdistan Region.
