Islamic Resistance in Iraq Claims Drone Attacks on Israeli City of Eilat

On Saturday, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRI) announced it had carried out two separate drone attacks targeting what it described as “vital” sites in the Israeli city of Eilat, also known as Um Al-Rashrash.

In a statement, IRI said the strikes were conducted in “solidarity with our brothers in Palestine and Lebanon,” emphasizing its intention to escalate operations in support of these regions.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq is a network of Iranian-backed Shia groups known for their involvement in regional military activities, including attacks on US and Israeli interests. Its constituent factions include Kata'ib Hezbollah, Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba, Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq, and Kata'ib Sayyid al-Shuhada. These groups are designated as terrorist organizations by the United States.

The IRI’s actions highlight its ongoing role as a key player in the broader axis of Iranian-backed resistance in the Middle East. Israeli authorities have yet to comment on the reported attacks in Eilat.

This development underscores growing tensions in the region, with escalating violence and increased involvement of proxy groups in conflicts affecting Israel, Palestine, and neighboring countries.
