Kurdistan Region Launches "Runaki" Project to Provide 24-Hour Electricity
Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani announced on Thursday the launch of the "Runaki" project, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at delivering 24-hour electricity across the region. The announcement came during Barzani's visit to the Shadi neighborhood in Erbil, where the pilot phase of the project has been underway.
Barzani personally inspected the electricity situation in several homes and businesses in the neighborhood, expressing satisfaction with the results. “Three months ago, the Shadi neighborhood was selected for the experimental phase of this project. I visited several households and employers, and they were delighted with the provision of 24-hour electricity,” he stated.
The Prime Minister revealed that the success of the Shadi neighborhood has paved the way for the project's second phase, which will soon commence in Erbil’s Naznaz and Bakhtiari neighborhoods. Barzani also announced that the initiative will be gradually extended to all regions, cities, and provinces of the Kurdistan Region, including neighborhoods in Sulaimani and Duhok.
The "Runaki" project aims to modernize the region's electricity infrastructure, providing residents and businesses with uninterrupted power and reducing reliance on generators. Barzani called on local authorities to cooperate with the government to ensure the smooth and efficient execution of the project as it expands to new areas.
The project marks a significant step forward in addressing the region’s electricity challenges and promises long-term benefits for both residents and the business community.
