On Saturday, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani arrived in New York to participate in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 79). The Prime Minister will deliver speeches during the General Assembly and the highly anticipated Summit of the Future, scheduled for Sunday and Monday, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

During his visit, Al-Sudani is set to meet with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, as well as high-ranking officials from the United Nations and other international organizations. He will also engage in discussions with various world leaders, presidents, and heads of delegations attending the session.

The Summit of the Future, which will address the ongoing impact of global conflicts and health crises, is a key focus of this year’s UNGA. The summit emphasizes the urgent need for strengthened international cooperation to tackle major global challenges such as poverty, inequality, and climate change.

From September 23 to 27, the UN Department of Global Communications will host its flagship SDG Media Zone. The event will feature interviews and discussions on pressing global issues, aligning with the broader UN agenda for sustainable development.
