Iraqi Prime Minister to Visit Tehran for Bilateral Talks
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani is set to visit Tehran on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, for an official trip aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and addressing regional developments.
The Prime Minister’s Media Office announced the visit on Sunday, highlighting its significance in reinforcing ties between the two neighboring countries. Discussions are expected to focus on enhancing economic cooperation, security coordination, and addressing key regional challenges.
This visit comes on the heels of Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian's September 2024 trip to Baghdad, signaling ongoing diplomatic exchanges and collaboration.
It will mark Al-Sudani's third official visit to Tehran since he assumed office, following trips on November 29, 2022, and November 6, 2023. These regular engagements underscore the importance both nations place on maintaining strong and consistent diplomatic ties.
The visit also comes at a time of heightened regional tensions, making it a crucial step in Iraq and Iran’s shared efforts to promote stability and mutual interests in the region.
