On Wednesday, 4 September 2024, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) welcomed Anıl Bora İnan, the newly appointed Ambassador of Türkiye to Iraq.

During the meeting they discussed the enhancement of bilateral relations between the Kurdistan Region and Türkiye, trade, and the Development Road which aims to connect Iraq, Türkiye, and Europe via railways. Both sides agreed on the importance of including the Kurdistan Region and all parts of Iraq in this strategic project.

Another topic of discussion was the death of Mr. Hakim Luqman, the Kurdish tourist from Duhok who was killed in Istanbul earlier this week. Ambassador İnan asserted that the perpetrators have been arrested and emphasised to address and resolve issues facing tourists from the Kurdistan Region during their stay in Türkiye.
