KRG Launches Major Tourism Development Project in Koya Worth Over 54 Million Dinars

The Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) Ministry of Municipalities and Tourism has launched an ambitious tourism development project in Koya, with a total investment of over 54 million dinars. This significant initiative aims to enhance the region's tourism appeal and infrastructure, further positioning Koya as a key destination within the Kurdistan Region.

The funding for this project, sourced from tourism revenues under the jurisdiction of the General Directorate of Tourism in Erbil, will be used to develop various facilities aimed at improving the visitor experience. Key developments include the construction of prayer areas and restrooms near major tourist sites, along with the addition of huts, seating areas, and children's playgrounds at the popular Hamamuk Dam.

The Ministry of Municipalities and Tourism has emphasized that the allocation of these funds adheres to two ministerial decrees governing tourism revenues in Erbil and complies with all relevant financial laws and regulations.

This investment reflects the KRG's commitment to enhancing the tourism sector, aiming not only to attract more visitors but also to improve the quality of services and facilities available to them. The project is part of broader efforts to leverage tourism revenue to further develop the region’s infrastructure and boost its economy.
