Kurdistan Region Prepares for November Population Census with Extensive Training Program

The Kurdistan Region's Ministry of Planning has announced the upcoming general population census, scheduled to take place on November 20, 2024. In preparation for this major event, two comprehensive training sessions will be conducted across all provinces and autonomous administrations.

Dara Rashid, Minister of Planning and Chairman of the High Census Board, along with Sirwan Mohammed, Chairman of the General Census Operations Chamber, will oversee the implementation of these preparations. The Ministry aims to ensure a smooth and accurate census process by equipping teachers with the necessary skills and knowledge.

Starting today and continuing until August 26, 2024, the statistics directorates in each province will host two intensive training courses focused on the census procedures. Fourteen training halls have been prepared for the instructors to facilitate this process.

A total of 659 teachers will participate in these initial special courses, with 114 from Duhok, 226 from Erbil, and 319 from Sulaymaniyah. The provincial statistics directorates will manage a 10-day training program to prepare a larger group of 7,765 teachers who will then assist in conducting the census across 188 halls throughout the region.

In detail, Duhok will host training for 1,393 teachers across 37 halls, Erbil will accommodate 2,874 teachers in 72 halls, and Sulaymaniyah will prepare 3,498 teachers within 77 halls. The courses aim to train instructors to effectively carry out the census, ensuring the accurate enumeration of all geographic locations and buildings in the Kurdistan Region.

The entire training and preparation process is expected to span two months, culminating in a comprehensive and precise population count in November. The Ministry's efforts reflect a commitment to a well-organized and efficient census, crucial for future planning and development in the region.
