KDP Commemorates 48th Anniversary of Gulan Revolution in Duhok
Duhok, Kurdistan Region – The first branch of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) organized a significant event in Duhok to commemorate the 48th anniversary of the Gulan Revolution. This three-day event aims to educate the youth about the historical accomplishments and struggles of the Kurdish people.
Hashim Gaberki, an organizer of the event, emphasized the importance of enlightening today's youth about their heritage. "We aim to enlighten today's youth about the Kurdish people's historical accomplishments and the arduous struggles endured in the mountains," Gaberki stated.
The event has seen the installation of several tents, with invitations extended to approximately 100 teachers and 400 students. These educators will conduct sessions to introduce students to the technological advancements that were pivotal during the Gulan Revolution.
"A diverse array of activities is scheduled throughout the three-day event," Gaberki added, highlighting the comprehensive nature of the commemoration.
The Gulan Revolution began in 1976, a year after the collapse of the September Revolution. The latter, led by the late Mustafa Barzani, ended in 1975 following the Algiers Agreement between Iraq's then-Vice President Saddam Hussein and the Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, which was aimed against the Kurdish efforts for independence.
The event in Duhok serves not only as a tribute to the past but also as an educational platform for future generations, ensuring that the legacy and the struggles of the Kurdish people remain alive in their collective memory.
