Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Expresses Condolences to Iran Following Helicopter Crash

Erbil, Kurdistan Region — On Monday morning, Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani extended his heartfelt condolences to the leadership, government, and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran after the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian, and several other officials.

In a letter addressed to Iran, PM Barzani expressed his sorrow over the devastating incident. "We extend our deepest condolences to the leadership, government, and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the death of President Ayatollah Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian, and their companions," he wrote.

The helicopter crash occurred on Sunday evening in Tabriz province, reportedly due to adverse weather conditions. Official Iranian media confirmed that after an intensive 18-hour search, rescuers located the wreckage, and all nine individuals aboard the helicopter were found deceased.

"We ask God to place the souls of the deceased in His mercy and grant patience and comfort to the families and the people of Iran in general. We express our condolences and support to the people of the Islamic Republic of Iran at this difficult time," PM Barzani added in his letter.

The loss of President Raisi and Foreign Minister Abdullahian, along with other senior officials, marks a significant tragedy for Iran. The Kurdish leader’s message underscores the regional impact and the solidarity expressed by neighboring leadership in times of such profound loss.
