Tragic Tanker Fire Claims Three Lives in Duhok Province
In a devastating incident, three individuals lost their lives in a fiery tanker accident in the Rovia district of Duhok province, Kurdistan. According to reports from Rovia traffic police, the victims, including the driver and two passengers, perished in the intense blaze that engulfed the tanker.
Major Saeed Abdullah, the Director of Rovia Traffic Police Center, provided details of the accident, stating that a tanker carrying crude oil caught fire completely while on the road. The severity of the fire tragically resulted in the loss of all three occupants.
Further investigations revealed that the deceased were residents of the Kalakchi district in Bardarash. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and authorities are continuing their inquiries into the incident.
This unfortunate event underscores the dangers posed by road accidents, particularly those involving hazardous materials. While official statistics for traffic accidents in the Kurdistan Region for the past year have not been released, recent data from traffic police indicate a concerning trend. In 2022 alone, Kurdistan Region witnessed a total of 3,706 accidents, leading to the loss of 445 lives and injuries to 7,250 others.
