During his second day in Baghdad, President Nechirvan Barzani held discussions with the President of Iraq, President of the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council, the Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the Iraqi National Security Advisor, in addition to engaging in meetings with several Iraqi leaders.

President Nechirvan Barzani met with Sayyed Ammar al-Hakim, the leader of the Hikma Movement; Dr. Adel Abdul Mahdi, former prime minister and prominent Iraqi politician; Sabet al-Abbasi, leader of the National Determination Coalition; Nouri al-Maliki, leader of the State of Law Coalition; Hadi al-Amri, leader of the Badr Organization; Musanna al-Samarai, Leader of the al-Azm Coalition; Haider al-Abadi, former prime minister and leader of the Nasr Coalition; Abdul Sada al-Freji, Secretary General of the Iraqi National Path Coalition; and Sheikh Khamis al-Khanjar, leader of the Sovereignty Alliance. They discussed the situation in Iraq and the problems between Erbil and Baghdad.

President Nechirvan Barzani emphasized that the Kurdistan Region is fully prepared to address its concerns with the Iraqi Government and federal institutions by means of constructive dialogue and mutual understanding, in accordance with the Constitution. Furthermore, he highlighted the significance of the Kurdistan Region’s stability in contributing to the overall peace and stability of Iraq.

President Nechirvan Barzani stressed the imperative for collaboration among all political forces and parties in Iraq to combat the existing threats and challenges, as well as to resolve the issues plaguing the country. He highlighted the significance of settling the Erbil-Baghdad matters as a crucial step towards achieving peace, stability, and a prosperous future for Iraq as a whole. Furthermore, the President underscored the importance of maintaining ongoing relations between all parties involved.

The leaders of the Iraqi forces and parties expressed their support for the actions being taken to resolve the disputes between Erbil and Baghdad, as well as for the ongoing dialogue between the Iraqi Federal Government and the Kurdistan Regional Government. They also showed their support for President Nechirvan Barzani’s efforts in addressing these issues, noting his frequent visits and engagements with different Iraqi movements and parties.

The discussions between President Nechirvan Barzani and Iraqi leaders also covered the allocation of the budget and financial resources for the Kurdistan Region, backing the enforcement of political agreements and the Federal Iraqi Government’s agenda, as well as the current situation in the Kurdistan Region and the upcoming Kurdistan parliamentary elections. Additionally, they exchanged views on the broader regional developments and their impact on Iraq, including terrorism, Iraq’s diplomatic relations with neighboring countries, the region, and the international community.
