Major Investment Project to Boost Agricultural Sector: Acre Warehouse to Support Farmers in Kurdistan Region

In a bid to bolster the agricultural sector and provide essential support to local farmers, the Acre warehouse project is set to commence construction on a sprawling 98-acre plot of land. Valued at $22 million, this ambitious endeavor aims to centralize the collection and marketing of farmers' produce, offering them a dedicated platform to showcase and sell their goods.

Muzaffer Shakir, the appointed project director, emphasized the significance of the warehouse, stating, "Farmers have a plethora of products, and instead of dispersing their yields across various markets in Erbil, Mosul, and beyond, this warehouse will serve as the primary hub for their distribution." He further highlighted the widespread benefits of the project, asserting that communities spanning from Kandil to Bardarash and Barzan will reap its rewards.

Expressing gratitude towards the Kurdistan Regional Government for their support, an employer associated with the project remarked, "We thank the Kurdistan Regional Government and eagerly anticipate the swift construction of this warehouse, which holds immense potential for the region."

The comprehensive infrastructure of the warehouse includes refrigeration facilities, storage barns, a trade shop, kitchen amenities, and fodder provisions. Notably, upon completion, it will stand as the second largest warehouse in both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, underscoring its pivotal role in the agricultural landscape.

Amidst a renewed focus on agricultural development by the ninth cabinet, initiatives aimed at fortifying agricultural infrastructure and promoting the marketing of farmers' products are poised to continue. The Acre warehouse project stands as a testament to these efforts, promising a brighter future for farmers and communities across the region.
