President Nechirvan Barzani today met with Mr. Lim Seungcheol, the Republic of Korea’s Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, and Mr. Ko Heeseok, Resident Representative of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Erbil. The meeting focused on enhancing relations between Korea and the Kurdistan Region, as well as discussing the ongoing work and activities of KOICA. Korea’s International Cooperation Agency has been providing valuable assistance to the Kurdistan Region for many years and has implemented various service projects across different areas.

The President expressed his appreciation for the close ties of friendship between Korea and the Kurdistan Region. He specifically highlighted the significant contributions of KOICA in various sectors, aimed at improving people’s everyday lives in the Kurdistan Region. The President also recalled the important reconstruction work by the Korean Zaytun Division peacekeeping contingent 20 years ago from 2004 to 2008, which contributed to strengthening their nations’ bilateral relations and partnership.

Furthermore, the meeting touched upon Erbil-Baghdad relations, as well as the overall situation in Iraq and the wider region.
