President Nechirvan Barzani on Wednesday met with Norway’s Ambassador to Jordan and Iraq, Mr. Espen Lindbæck. Their discussion revolved around Norway’s bilateral relationship with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. They also exchanged views regarding the ongoing Erbil-Baghdad talks to address the outstanding issues between them, the current political and security situation in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, the next elections in the Kurdistan Region, and the situation in Sinjar.

Both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing their bilateral ties and cooperation, particularly in areas where Iraq and the Kurdistan Region can benefit from Norway’s expertise. They agreed that it is crucial to uphold peace and stability in Iraq. Ambassador Lindbæck reaffirmed that Norway attaches considerable importance to its ties with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, and to maintaining their peace and stability.

Their dialogue also touched upon the repercussions of the conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine, as well as other issues of mutual concern.
