President Nechirvan Barzani held a meeting today with the commander of the Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve, Major General Joel B. Vowell, along with a delegation accompanying him.

The discussion during their meeting revolved around the joint efforts of the Coalition Forces, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region in combatting terrorism and achieving the complete eradication of ISIS, and providing military training and advice to the Iraqi army and the Peshmerga forces. They also addressed the issue of terrorism in Iraq, Syria, and the wider region.

Both parties emphasized the importance of safeguarding the Coalition Forces and diplomatic representatives in Iraq. They agreed that Iraq’s stability is crucial for the entire region and that no room should be given for the resurgence of terrorism. They also discussed the recent drone attacks on the Kurdistan Region.

The President and Major General Vowell also exchanged views on the situation in the Kurdistan Region, the reunification of the Peshmerga forces, the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the war in Gaza, and its implications for the wider region.

The meeting was attended by several diplomats and military officials.
