Kurdistan Regional Government Approves 3 Billion Iraqi Dinar for Stalled Water Projects in Duhok

The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Masrour Barzani, has given the green light for the allocation and disbursement of a substantial fund totaling 3 billion and 11 million Iraqi dinars. The allocated funds are aimed at completing several vital water projects in Duhok province, marking a significant step towards enhancing water infrastructure in the region.

Informed sources have revealed that the approved projects to be covered by these allocations include the Duhok Water Project, the Duhok Suburbs Project, and the Aqra Water Project. These projects hold paramount importance for the local communities, as they are expected to alleviate water scarcity and provide access to clean, reliable water sources.

One notable achievement under the current government's initiatives is the completion of a major portion of the project to establish silos and a flour mill in Duhok province. This specific venture, costing approximately 20 million dollars, plays a key role in the government's strategy to ensure and strengthen food security across the region. By bolstering local flour production capabilities, the Kurdistan Regional Government seeks to tackle food insecurity, which has been one of the primary goals of the 9th government's program.

The announcement of the approval was made by the Media and Information Department of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), signifying the government's commitment to improving infrastructure and addressing pressing issues concerning water and food security in the region.

The allocation of such a substantial budget for the completion of these water projects reflects the government's determination to foster sustainable development and improve the overall living standards of the people of Duhok. As progress continues in these critical projects, residents can look forward to a more promising and prosperous future with improved access to essential water resources.
