Iraqi Prime Minister Receives Yazidi Religious Leaders and Pledges Support for their Community
In a meeting held on Saturday morning in the city of Mosul, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani received the Prince of the Yazidis in Iraq and the world, Hazem Tahseen Bek, along with His Holiness Baba Sheikh of the Yazidi religion, Sheikh Ali Elias Haji, and their delegation.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister praised the Yazidi community as an integral part of the diverse fabric of Iraqi society, and lauded their unified national stance against terrorism, as well as their commitment to their country.
Al-Sudani also reiterated the government's commitment to supporting the Yazidi component and all other components, rehabilitating their areas, and establishing service and economic projects within the government program to facilitate the return of displaced Yazidi families to their homes.
The Iraqi Prime Minister also highlighted the Cabinet's decision to grant ownership of real estate and residential land to Yazidi citizens whose ownership was blocked by the discriminatory policies of the previous regime, as well as the implementation of the law for survivors of Yazidi women and other components, and compensating them for the barbaric attacks by ISIS terrorist gangs.
In response, the Yazidi delegation expressed their gratitude to the Prime Minister and their appreciation for the government's steps in sponsoring the Yazidi community, including the Cabinet's decision to consider the Yazidi New Year a public holiday for Yazidis every year, and the decision to grant ownership of real estate and residential land belonging to Yazidi citizens.
The delegation also praised the government's decision to activate the special committee for compensation for Sinjar and the rights of Yazidi martyrs and survivors, reconstruction efforts, social inclusion, and other decisions related to the rights and privileges of the Yazidi component.
This meeting and the commitments made by the Prime Minister and the government are seen as positive steps towards supporting the Yazidi community and promoting their inclusion in Iraqi society.
