Kurdistan Region President and UK Ambassador discuss Erbil-Baghdad relations, internal situation, and Sinjar status
In a meeting held on Saturday in Erbil, President Nechirvan Barzani received the British Ambassador to Iraq, Mark Bryson Richardson. The two sides exchanged views on several important topics including the latest developments in Erbil-Baghdad talks, the internal situation in the Kurdistan Region, the upcoming elections, and the status of Sinjar.
Both parties commended the progress and understanding between Erbil and Baghdad to resolve their pending issues. They also stressed the importance of resolving the internal political differences in the Kurdistan Region and holding elections on time.
The two sides emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the wider region and preventing hate speech. They also highlighted the need to implement the agreement between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Federal Iraqi Government on the status of Sinjar.
The meeting was attended by the British Consul General in Erbil and addressed the common interests of the United Kingdom, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region.
The discussions between the two sides reflect the ongoing efforts to strengthen relations and promote stability and prosperity in the region.
