ERBIL — Kurdish prominent leader Masoud Barzani on Monday received a US diplomatic delegation led by Ambassador Matthew Tueller to discuss the Erbil-Washington ties among other topics.

A statement from Barzani Headquarters said the two officials also reviewed the latest developments, during which they welcomed the recently passed Budget Law of 2021 in Iraq, describing it as a positive move.

“They also exchanged views on US-Iraq Strategic Dialogue, as well as the responsibilities of each party to make the dialogue successful,” reads the statement.

After the meeting, Barzani wrote on Twitter: “We discussed the new political developments and reiterated our mutual commitment to further strengthening the USA-Kurdistan relations.”

The war on terror in Iraq and Syria was also on the agenda.
