HRW: about 100 sexual assault cases in 5 days in Egypt
Human Rights Watch (HRW) claimed in its recent report that the organization has recorded about 100 case of sexual harassment in 5 days in Tahrir Square-Egypt.

HRW published a report on Tuesday July 3, 2013, said that since 28 June, 2013, 91 cases of sexual assault were registered.

The organization also stated that on June 28, 5 sexual assault cases, and on Sunday 30 cases, on July 1, 17 cases and July 2, 23 cases were registered.

Human Rights Watch also claimed that mob sexual assaults were registered and some of them have lasted for an hour, later the victims were transferred to the hospital, other women demonstrators were attacked with sticks and knives were sexually assaulted.

Regarding this phenomenon, Zaman newspaper wrote: “this phenomenon has become an ordinary thing and hundreds of people sexually assault the women, and none of the officials is investigating in these incidents and nobody has been arrested because of that”.

Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations expressed his deeply sympathy and concern regarding the female victims in Tahrir Square, called on the security forces to protect the demonstrators.
