Iraqi Prime Minister Al-Sudani Attends Inauguration of Iran's New President

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani attended the inauguration ceremony of Iran's newly elected President, Masoud Pezeshkian, in Tehran. Al-Sudani's presence at the ceremony followed an official invitation, highlighting the significance of Iraq-Iran relations.

The event, held in the Iranian Parliament, saw the participation of numerous international dignitaries. President Pezeshkian, a reformist and former Health Minister from Tabriz, triumphed in the second round of the presidential election on July 5, capturing 53.7 percent of the vote to become Iran's ninth President.

The inauguration comes in the wake of the tragic helicopter crash on May 19, which resulted in the deaths of President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. Following the ceremony, President Pezeshkian presented his new government to the Parliament for a vote of confidence.
