Hungary to Open Consulate in Erbil
Salahaddin, Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRP.org) – President Masoud Barzani yesterday met with Hungary’s ambassador to Iraq Tibor Szatmari to discuss bilateral relations between the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and Hungary.

Ambassador Szatmari conveyed the greetings of the President and the Prime Minister of Hungary, and said that following President Barzani’s 2012 visit to Budapest, there has been a deepening of ties between the two sides. He added that as pledged during that visit, his country is in the process of opening its consulate general in the capital Erbil.

President Barzani commended the decision by the Hungarian government to open its consulate and said that this will further facilitate the expansion of ties between the two sides.

The President and the Hungarian Ambassador also discussed cooperation opportunities in the areas of agriculture, education, and energy.
