Khanaqin district announced on Wednesday, that it has found a mass grave of the uprising victims of the district in 1991.

The deputy governor of the district, Mohammed Mulla Hassan told "Shafaq News", that " during digging operations in Bakhtiari area in Khanaqin district, the citizens noticed pieces of remains scattered there," adding that "after inspecting it by the competent authorities, it turned out to be a mass grave for some people of the city who were executed by the former regime in the uprising of 1991.”

He added that “the competent authorities began the process of lifting the bodies and inspecting to know their numbers."
