Prime Minister of Kurdistan Region Meets Turkish Officials in Ankara

The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Masrour Barzani, held high-level meetings yesterday in Ankara as part of his official visit to the Republic of Turkey.

In the morning, Prime Minister Barzani met with Turkey's Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, to discuss strengthening relations between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey. The talks also covered the latest developments in Iraq and the broader region.

Later in the day, Prime Minister Barzani met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Presidential Palace in Ankara. During the meeting, the two leaders focused on enhancing bilateral ties and addressing key regional and international issues, particularly developments in Iraq and Syria.

Discussions emphasized the importance of resolving disputes between the Kurdistan Region and Iraq’s federal government based on the Iraqi constitution. The leaders also explored ways to overcome challenges in exporting the Kurdistan Region's oil.

On the situation in Syria, both sides highlighted the need for security and stability across the country and stressed the importance of safeguarding the rights of all its communities.

The meetings underline the ongoing cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey and their shared commitment to addressing pressing regional challenges.
