Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP): We are with establishing an electoral commission by consensus
Ja'efar Eminky told kdp.info that two points have been discussed in KDP's High Committee meeting. The first one was about the Iraqi governorate committee elections that should be held as soon as possible without delay and the time should be scheduled for it by the government and the High Electoral Committee. The second one was about Kurdistan Parliament and Presidential elections. It has been confirmed that both should be held on time.
"Holding elections does not need consensus. The commission should be asked to hold it, but there is a suggestion about having a national consensus over establishing Electoral Commission. We, as KDP, are not against this." He added.
He explained that KDP wants the decisions in the committee be on the basis of majority, yet the opposition does not and this is the main difference between the two.
Moreover, he states that the government will fix the time for the election and will consult the parliamentary blocs about this.
