President of Kurdistan Region Massoud Barzani is expected to torch the fire of Newroz this evening in Erbil city.
“Massoud Barzani, President of Kurdistan Region, will light the fire of the national Kurdish New Year festivity this evening at 5:0 l p.m. local time at the ceremony in Erbil’s Shanadar Park” said Faisal Dabbagh, Barzani’s press secretary.

The president will also give a speech to the people of Kurdistan in which he will wish the people of Kurdistan a happy Newroz.

“But he is also expected this evening at 8 p.m. to deliver another speech in which he will talk about the current situations in Iraq, Kurdistan and the region” said Dabbagh.

The Kurdish dream for an independent state will also be addressed, he added.
