Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, headed the Iraqi delegation to the resumed meeting of the Council of the Arab League, which was held on Sunday 12/2/2012 in Cairo to discuss the developments in Syria and the Palestinian issue .

The meeting discussed the draft resolution submitted by the Arab Commission calling to stop violence and requesting the Security Council to establish joint Arab-international peacekeeping forces in order to stand on the implementation of the ceasefire and opening a political dialogue through nominating official envoy of the Secretary-General to carry out this task.

They also discussed the deteriorating economic situation in the Republic of Somalia and the Arab efforts to alleviate the suffering of its people, as the Council called the Arab States to participate in the London Conference on Somalia.

In this regard, Mr. Zebari pointed out that the Iraqi government has donated some five million dollars and one hundred thousand dollars as medical aids, in addition to (100) tons of wheat.

The meeting was attended by Undersecretary Labeed Abawi ,Ambassador Dhia al Dabbas, Head of the Arab Department and the Iraqi Permanent Representative.
