Kalar mayor quits
The mayor of Kalar, the center of the disputed Garmiyan area, has resigned, without disclosing a reason.
Othman Mohyaddin confirmed his resignation to AKnews today, and added "I will reveal the reason for this later".

The spokesman for the Garmiyan Adminstration, Yagdar Ali, said that the local government supports the departing mayor and will continue to do so.

Kalar's deputy mayor, Jalal Nuir, said his local adminstration had always supported Mohyaddin "but he is determined to quit".

The culture of resignation is so unpopular in Kurdistan that there are are rarely examples of officials who vacate their posts for more efficient candidates.

Mohayaddin is the third mayor of Kalar since the first municipality elections 10 years ago. He assumed the post after Jawad Wadi, the first mayor for Kalar, and Hassan Jihad, who is now a deputy to the House of Representatives.
