Korean Culture Festival will be held in Erbil
The Festival is the first time for Korean Government to send its Cultural Delegation to Iraq since the two countries formed diplomatic relation in 1989.
The delegation is consisting of around 40 members to show Taekwondo(Korean Martial Art) demonstration, Samulnori(Traditional Percussion Music), B-boying(Hip-hop and Breaking Dancing). Chopy(Kurdistan Traditional Dance) will also be performed to encourage the Korean Cultural Delegation.
We firmly believe that this Festival could contribute to giving a good momentum in upgrading the relations between Korea and Kurdistan one more step forward beyond the scopes of politics and economy.
We sincerely hope that this Festival will lead to deepening mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

▧ Taekwondo( Korean Martial Art)
Taekwondo is a Korean martial art and the national sport of Korea. To put it simply Taekwondo is a version of unarmed combat designed for the purpose of self-defense. It is more than just that.
- Taekwondo team ‘Kukkiwon Taekwondo Demonstration Team’
Kukkiwon Taekwondo Demonstration Team, established in 1974, is the true cultural messengers touring around over 100 countries. With 70 team members, the team sublimates Taekwondo into art opening the bright future of Taekwondo.
▧ Samulnori ( Korean Traditional Percussion Music)
Samulnori basically means “four instruments” and refers to the four percussion instruments, which are Kwaengwari, Jing, Janggu, and Buk, played and danced by the musicians.
- Samulnori Team ‘Bisang’
Samulnori team ‘Bisang’ participated in the second Caravan Event, 2009 Marrakesh International Film Festival Opening Ceremony and so on. Bisang is going to show an enthusiastic performance with Korean traditional musical instruments such as chang-gu, gong, a small gong, and drum.
▧ B-boying (Hip-hop and Breaking Dance)
B-boying, often called “ break-dancing” , is a popular style of street dance that was created and developed as part of hip-hop culture among African Americans and Latino youths in New York city.
- B-boy team ‘ Gambler Crew’
B-boy team Gambler Crew won the B- boy world cup, “Battle of the Year” as a representative of Korea twice in 2004 and 2009. Moreover, the team has won several other international tournaments and performed a number of times abroad. With these experiences, Gambler Crew is going to show a unique performance with Samulnori that features the harmony of Korean traditional dance and western modern dance.
▧ Chopy dance (Kurdistan Traditonal Dance)
Chopy dance is a group of traditional hand-holding dances. It is a form of round dancing, with a single or a couple of figure dancers often added to the geometrical centre of the dancing circle
