Following his recent meetings with the leaders of the two main opposition groups in Kurdistan, President Barzani today met with Mulla Ali Bapir, the leader of the Kurdistan Islamic Group to discuss ways to further normalize the political situation in Kurdistan.

Mulla Bapir commended President Barzani’s latest initiatives to reach out to the opposition parties in Kurdistan and expressed his party’s full support, attributing the recent positive political atmosphere in Kurdistan to President Barzani’s role.

For his part, President Barzani thanked Mulla Bapir for his show of support and restated that his reform programs and efforts to strengthen unity at home will be ongoing.
The two also discussed proposed plans to form a council of Kurdistan Region political parties as a venue to debate key national issues.
