Masrour Barzani Urges Kurdish Youth to Embrace Challenges and Drive Future Progress

Masrour Barzani, Vice President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), has called on Kurdish youth to believe in themselves, enhance their skills, and embrace the challenges of the modern era to contribute to the Kurdistan Region’s future.

Speaking on Thursday during a meeting with members of the Kurdistan Student Union (KSU) and the Kurdistan Democratic Youth Union (KDYU), Barzani emphasized the vital role of youth in shaping the Region’s development and stability. The event marked the 72nd anniversary of both organizations, which have played a significant role in empowering Kurdish students and youth politically, socially, and academically.

“I am proud to have been a member of these two organizations, and I fully recognize their struggles and sacrifices, which are a source of pride for us all,” VP Barzani stated, reflecting on his own past involvement in student activism. He congratulated the members on their long-standing contributions to Kurdistan’s progress and acknowledged their resilience throughout different phases of the Kurdish struggle.

Barzani reaffirmed the KDP’s commitment, under the leadership of President Masoud Barzani, to safeguarding the constitutional framework of the Kurdistan Region and protecting the national rights of the Kurdish people. He urged young people to remain proactive, seize opportunities, and contribute to Kurdistan’s prosperity through innovation and determination.

The Kurdistan Student Union (KSU) and the Kurdistan Democratic Youth Union (KDYU) were established in the 1950s as key organizations fostering education, national awareness, and political activism among Kurdish youth. Over the decades, these groups have played a crucial role in promoting the rights of Kurdish students and mobilizing youth during times of political struggle, particularly in advocating for Kurdish self-determination and resisting oppression.

VP Barzani’s address underscored the importance of youth engagement in securing a stable and prosperous future for Kurdistan. He encouraged students and young people to remain resilient in the face of challenges and to harness their knowledge and skills to drive the Region forward in an increasingly complex global landscape.
