An Israeli Navy missile boat successfully intercepted a drone over the Mediterranean Sea on Saturday, with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) indicating that the unmanned aircraft was likely launched from Iraq.

The IDF reported that the drone, which was heading toward Israel, was detected and neutralized before entering Israeli airspace. No sirens were activated during the incident, following standard protocol for threats intercepted far from populated areas.

This interception comes amid heightened tensions between Israel and Iraqi resistance groups. Since October 7 of last year, these groups have launched hundreds of drones targeting Israel, many originating from Iraq.
