President Barzani Meets Swiss Ambassador to Iraq, Discusses Bilateral Relations

President Masoud Barzani, leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), welcomed the newly appointed Swiss Ambassador to Iraq, Daniel Hunn, on Monday in Pirmam, where they discussed strengthening ties between Switzerland and the Kurdistan Region.

In an official statement from Barzani’s office, the KDP President congratulated Ambassador Hunn on his new role, expressing Kurdistan’s respect and goodwill toward the Swiss government and people. Barzani extended his best wishes to the ambassador, noting his hopes for further cooperation, particularly in the fields of economic infrastructure and healthcare.

Ambassador Hunn conveyed his gratitude for Barzani’s role in Iraq’s political landscape and his enduring impact on the Kurdistan Region’s development. He also congratulated Barzani on the recent Kurdistan parliamentary elections, which he described as a significant achievement for democracy in the Region. “This is a great victory for the Kurdish people,” Hunn remarked, lauding the peaceful and successful electoral process.
