President Masoud Barzani met with the newly appointed German Consul General, Mr. Albrecht von Wittke, at his residence in the Salahaddin resort today.

During the meeting, Consul General von Wittke extended his congratulations to President Barzani on the successful completion of the sixth parliamentary elections in the Kurdistan Region. He described the elections as a significant step forward, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the political landscape of the region.

The two leaders also exchanged views on the latest political developments in Iraq and the wider region, with discussions focusing on the evolving relations between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Iraqi federal government. The next steps following the Kurdistan parliamentary elections, including the formation of a new government, were also key points of discussion.

President Barzani expressed his hopes for a fruitful tenure for the new German Consul General in Erbil, wishing him success in his diplomatic role. He also emphasized his desire for stronger ties and further cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and Germany in the years to come.
