Protesters Attack MBC Office in Baghdad Following Report Labeling Pro-Iran Figures as

Dozens of protesters stormed the Baghdad office of Saudi broadcaster MBC on Friday night, following the channel's release of a controversial video that labeled several pro-Iran figures as “terrorists.” The attack came just hours after the video was aired, with parts of the office being set on fire, according to footage obtained by Rudaw.

The MBC video, titled “Millennium of Deliverance from Terrorists,” depicted figures such as Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, and slain Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani, alongside leaders of internationally-recognized terrorist groups like ISIS and al-Qaeda. The video’s text declared, “In this millennium, the world got rid of many terrorist figures who terrorized the world and shed blood.”

Outraged by the report, protesters carrying flags of pro-Iranian militia groups attacked the MBC office in Baghdad. Iraqi lawmaker Mustafa Sanad condemned the broadcaster in a post on X (formerly Twitter), warning that the issue “does not end with destruction or burning” and suggesting that they will push for MBC’s broadcasting license to be revoked in Iraq.

The Palestinian Hamas movement also criticized MBC for its “provocative report,” describing it as a “professional downfall” and demanding that the broadcaster apologize and remove the video.

MBC, based in Riyadh, is a major regional media group operating several channels in various languages, and has been at the center of controversy over its depiction of political and military figures in the region.
