Seven Civilians Killed in Israeli Air Strike on Damascus: Syrian Government

The Syrian government reported that seven civilians, including women and children, were killed in an Israeli air strike on Tuesday targeting a residential and commercial building in Damascus. The attack occurred in the Mazzeh neighborhood, a district known for its embassies and security installations.

According to the Syrian Defence Ministry, the death toll is preliminary as rescue teams continue to search through the rubble. The building struck in the attack was reportedly used by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and Lebanon’s Hezbollah, according to a war monitor.

Later on Tuesday, the Syrian Foreign Ministry issued a strong condemnation of the air strike, denouncing it as a “brutal crime against defenceless civilians.” The ministry urged the international community to take “immediate measures” to prevent Israel from escalating tensions in the region, warning that such actions could lead to “disastrous consequences.”

Israel has not commented on the strike, which is part of a series of similar attacks it has launched in recent years, targeting Iranian-backed groups operating in Syria.
