Israeli Airstrike on Damascus Kills and Injures Civilians

An Israeli airstrike on the Syrian capital, Damascus, early Tuesday morning killed three civilians and injured nine others, according to Syrian state media (SANA). The attack reportedly targeted several locations in the city, with the aerial strike launched from the direction of the occupied Golan Heights.

Syrian military sources, cited by SANA, described the strike as an "aerial aggression." The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) also reported the attack, but did not provide details on the number of casualties.

Israel has conducted numerous airstrikes in Syria during its nearly 13-year civil war, often targeting pro-Iran militias such as Hezbollah, which support the Syrian regime. Although Israel rarely acknowledges these operations, it has consistently stated that it will not allow Iran to establish a foothold in Syria.

The frequency of Israeli strikes has increased since October 7, when Hamas militants launched an unprecedented attack on Israel, sparking significant retaliatory measures from the Israeli military.
