Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani held a meeting today with the Russian Federation’s Ambassador to Iraq, Elbrus Kutrashev, to discuss strengthening relations between the Kurdistan Region and Russia.

The meeting, held in Erbil, included discussions on various regional and national issues, including recent developments in Iraq and the broader region. Both sides exchanged views on enhancing bilateral cooperation in multiple sectors.

Key points of the discussion focused on the ongoing preparations for the upcoming Kurdistan Parliament elections. Both parties stressed the importance of ensuring a secure and transparent electoral process, free from any irregularities, to guarantee a fair outcome.

In addition, the meeting underscored the need for resolving disputes between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government in Baghdad. Both sides affirmed the importance of safeguarding the constitutional rights of the Kurdistan Region in any future agreements.

The meeting marks another step in strengthening diplomatic ties between the Kurdistan Region and international partners.
