Iraqi National Security Advisor Congratulates President Masoud Barzani on Successful Kurdistan Parliamentary Election

Qasim al-Araji, Iraq's National Security Advisor, extended his congratulations to President Masoud Barzani, leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), on the successful conclusion of the recent Kurdistan Parliamentary election. The meeting took place in Pirmam on Sunday, according to a statement from Barzani's office.

The election, held on October 20, saw the KDP secure a decisive victory, receiving over 800,000 votes and winning 39 out of 95 seats in the Kurdistan Parliament. Al-Araji praised the smooth electoral process and the KDP's success in securing a majority.

During the meeting, Barzani and al-Araji discussed key political and security challenges affecting Iraq and the broader Middle East. They emphasized the importance of cooperation to address regional threats, including efforts to combat terrorism and ensure long-term security and stability in both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

Earlier the same day, al-Araji visited Erbil, where he held talks with Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani. The discussions focused on recent political and security developments in Iraq, highlighting joint efforts to maintain stability amidst ongoing regional tensions.

The successful election and subsequent meetings underscore the importance of collaboration between the Kurdistan Region and the Iraqi central government, particularly in the face of security threats and political challenges in the Middle East.
