Iran Condemns Israeli Assassination of Hezbollah Leader, Vows Retaliation

Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a strong warning in response to the assassination of Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, declaring that the killing by Israel will not go unpunished. Nasrallah was killed on Friday in an Israeli airstrike targeting Hezbollah’s headquarters in Beirut, an act Tehran condemned as "terrorism" by the "criminal Zionist regime."

In a statement, Iran accused the United States of complicity, citing its unwavering support for Israel. The ministry praised Nasrallah’s lifelong dedication to the resistance against Zionism, asserting that his death would further strengthen resistance movements across Lebanon, Palestine, and the broader region.

Iran reaffirmed its steadfast support for Hezbollah and its commitment to the Palestinian cause, particularly the “liberation” of Al-Quds (Jerusalem). Tehran vowed to take diplomatic, political, and legal measures to back Lebanon and Palestine in the aftermath of the assassination.

The killing has sent shockwaves throughout the Middle East. Iraq declared three days of mourning to honor Nasrallah’s regional influence, with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani condemning the assassination as a "shameful attack" and a "crime that shows the Zionist entity has crossed all red lines." Al-Sudani referred to Nasrallah as a "martyr on the path of the righteous."

The assassination has further escalated tensions in the region, with fears of retaliation and broader conflict looming.
